This clever little synopsis of the classic 1935 Universal film was originally found on the now defunct ClassicHorror.com site, which was created and hosted by the gothically-monikered Ravenswood High School. They graciously invited the material to be shared, as long as proper credit was given, as I am happily doing now (with some modification), so that their great work won't fade away. Enjoy!! .. |

Mary Shelley
explains to Lord Byron and Percy Shelley that her story of Frankenstein's
creature did not end with his apparent death in a burning mill. She begins
a new narration which starts as the crowds of villagers leave the destroyed
mill. The drowned girl's father refuses to accept the creature's death
without looking for his body in the ruins. Hans climbs down into the ruins
and makes a discovery which ends his life.

Henry has
nearly recovered from the injuries he received at the hands of his creature.
During the recovery, he has decided that he is cursed because he has sought
a power that God is "jealous" of, the mystery of life itself. Elizabeth
tells Henry that she senses the presence of a strange apparition drawing
near. At that time, a visitor arrives. It is Dr. Pretorious, one of Henry's
professors from medical school. Dr. Pretorious wishes to speak to Henry
about a matter of great importance.

Pretorious
explains to Henry that he, too, has been conducting experiments into the
nature of life, and that they must work together. Henry hesitates to agree,
but Pretorious reminds him that his creature is still missing and he will
need help dealing with him. Henry agrees to go to Pretorious' lab to see
the results of his work.

The Dr. brings
out a bottle of gin and explains that it is his "only vice". Pretorious
proposes a toast to their partnership. "To a new world of gods and
monsters!" He then brings out a chest containing bell jars with small
people in them. He explains that the one that looks like the Devil is
his favorite, and he spent extra time on him.

Henry is amazed
at Pretorious' results, but the Dr. tells him that he needs his help to
achieve "size". Pretorious invites Henry to join him in creating a new
race of people in their own image. "Male and female created them He.
Be fruitful and multiply". They agree to create a mate for the creature!
